Plastic Bags, Multicolored Installation 2010
Pascale Marthine Tayou is rather an unusual artist from Yaoundé, Cameroon, a small country in Africa. Pascale had originally studied law and left practice after realizing how corrupt the system was. Realizing his passion in art, he began finding meaning in everything. His work is the end result of a spontaneous human, he collects and builds in life. The plastic bag installation is a testament to who he his, with every venue is a site-specific installation. Be sure to check out more of work and interesting adventures over on his site, here.
“At times I come up with ideas beforehand, try to materialize them and it works. At other times, it is an accident and the ideas come afterwards, when the image is already finished and the concept has yet to be understood. It is almost as if I am learning constantly through the process of creation.”
